綴り字（つづりじ）またはスペリングとは、ある語を文字で表す際に、どの音や意味・文法的機能にどの字を用いるかという規則のこと。「スペル」と言われることもあるが、正しくは「スペリング」である。
言語によって決められている綴り字の規則体系を綴字法（ていじほう・てつじほう）または綴り字法（つづりじほう）と呼び、正書法の最も中心的な役割を果たしている。綴字法によりある言語において同じ語は同じ綴りで書かれる。
日本語においては複数の文字体系を使うが、仮名についての綴字法のことを特に仮名遣いと呼んでいる。
