- 塩(しお)は、塩化ナトリウムを主な成分とし、海水の乾燥・岩塩の採掘によって生産される物質。塩味をつける調味料とし、また保存(塩漬け・塩蔵)などの目的で食品に使用されるほか、ソーダ工業用・融氷雪用・水処理設備の一種の軟化器に使われるイオン交換樹脂の再生などにも使用される。
