- 笑い(わらい)とは、楽しかったり、嬉しかったりなどを表現する感情表出行動の一つ。
- 全く自発的な場合もあるが、他人の行動に対して、「笑う」という表現を通して、自分の意思を伝えることにも使われる。周りにつられて笑うというような現象もあるが、公式の場や話題によっては失礼・不謹慎とされることも多い。
- また、人をどうにかして笑わそうとする行為もあり、一般に「笑いを取る」などと呼ばれる。職業的にこれを行うことを「お笑い」、そのプロフェッショナルを「お笑い芸人」などと呼ぶ。一般に同じ相手に対して、怒らせるのは簡単でも、笑いを取ることは非常に難しいことである。
