- 住宅(じゅうたく・英語:Residence(レジデンス))は、人の居住を用途とする建築物。「住居」とも言う。周囲の環境から居住者の快適な生活を守るものであり、生活範囲となる環境を含める場合もある。
- ここで言う“周囲の環境”とは、気候(雨、風、雪、暑さ、寒さ、湿気など)、騒音、異臭、他人の視線や聞き耳(→プライバシーの保護)、天敵(猛獣、猛禽、害虫など)など、立地条件によって異なるものであり、住宅に求められる対応もそれによって異なる。
