- ディベート(debate)とは、ある公的な主題について異なる立場に分かれ議論することをいう(広義のディベート)。討論(会)とも呼ばれている。
- ディベートは、厳密にはディスカッション(discussion)や単なる議論とは異なるものであるが、一般にはこれらの区別なく「ディベート」ないし「討論」と呼ばれることが多い(最広義のディベート)。この語法は既に定着している部分もあるが、誤った使い方であるとの見方も根強い。
