- 化学においてのアルコール(蘭/英: alcohol)とは、炭化水素の水素原子をヒドロキシ基 (-OH) で置き換えた物質の総称である。芳香環の水素原子を置換したものはフェノール類と呼ばれ、アルコールと区別される。
- 最初に「アルコール」として認識された物質はエタノール(酒精)である。この歴史的経緯により、一般的には単に「アルコール」と言えば、エタノールを指す。
